Slovak Easter Folk Art - Woven Willow Whips and Straw Eggs
More great tutorials from Lubos Brieda at www.slovakcooking.com...
Slovak Easter traditions are definitely quite unique! They basically consist of guys chasing girls around with switches weaved from willow branches and also pouring buckets of cold water on them. The girls then reward the guys with beautiful decorated Easter eggs, and other treats like home-made kolache and shots of slivovica, the East-European plum brandy.

It's not Fasiangy without Sišky (Slovak Donuts)
Sišky or pampúchy (Slovak donuts) are commonly served during Slovak carnival or Mardi Gras celebrations. Here's a recipe from our friend, Lubos Brieda's Slovak cooking blog. It also includes the Slovak fairy tale (rozprávka) which tells the story of a small pampúch, pampúšik. Enjoy the story and recipe here: http://www.slovakcooking.com/2011/recipes/homemade-donuts-sisky/
